OFFICERS TO ATTEND COMMUNITY EVENTS THIS WEEKEND
(9/15/2006) NEW HAVEN – Officers from the New Haven Police Department will be in attendance at several events throughout the City tomorrow, 16 September 2006.
From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., officers will attend the annual ChiliFest at East Shore Park, which is sponsored by the Community Action Agency. Officer will also attend Yale Youth Day at the Yale Bowl from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. At Roberto Clemente School, 360 Columbus Avenue, officers will attend the City Wide SAFE NIGHT New Haven event from 12 to 5 p.m.
At all three events, youth and families will be the focus of the officers in attendance. They will distribute information about Internet crimes, youth safety, and keeping kids away from drugs and alcohol.
Police Chief Francisco Ortiz, Jr., said, “Our officers’ attendance at these community events is an important part of our continued commitment to community policing. It is important for young people to meet officers at these kinds of activities and for our officers to stay connected to the community they serve.”
